How to Relieve a Headache Naturally

Headaches can be a day ruiner. They can hit when we least expect it and linger for hours on end.

If you are like most people, you don’t want to reach for pain medication every time you are feeling discomfort. You’d probably rather find an all-natural remedy for headaches that actually works, providing you with the relief you need without the drugs.

#1: Ginger

Ginger is an age-old headache remedy. Its effects have been touted for centuries and spanning cultures all over the world. The reason why so many choose ginger to get rid of their headaches, is because ginger root reduces the inflammation of blood vessels. This alone helps ease the pain of headaches, because of this reduction of inflammation of blood vessels in the head.

To use, simply steep some ginger tea: Grind up about a quarter teaspoon of fresh ginger and mix with fresh lemon juice and combine with 6 oz. of hot black tea. Drink and enjoy!

#2: Stretches

As many people have found over the years, doing some basic stretches can effectively reduce the intensity of a headache. These stretches include rotating the head slowly in circles, pulling your chin as high up as you can, and then placing your chin as close to your chest as possible, then moving your head from side to side allowing your ears to come as close to your shoulders as possible. Repeating this will help you find relief from your headache fast.

#3: Ice

This one is probably the easiest way to find relief from a headache and all you need is an ice pack or some ice cubes in a zip lock bag. Place the ice on the back of your neck for fast relief. You can also place a cold compress over your eyes and on your forehead, as well.
